| Primary Duties |
Processes and provides clean and sterilized supplies and equipment for patient use.
Specific Responsibilities:
>Demonstrates effective verbal communication skills.
>Makes daily rounds on nursing units and collects soiled equipment and instruments and returns items to department.
>Sorts, cleans and sterilizes equipment including washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic, etc.
>Follows all safety and security protocols according to department procedure manual.
>Assembles wraps and verifies instruments for sterilization according to Department procedures manual.
>Visually monitors expiration dates for sterile items at various locations and reprocesses any outdated items on a timely basis.
>Retrieves and issues items according to verbal or written requests.
>Maintains a clean environment including disinfecting countertops wiping down racks and other equipment according to department procedure.
>Demonstrates basic math skills when accounting for sterile supplies.
>Distinguishes and identifies various instruments.
>Operates Sterrad sterilizer.

Education, Skills & Experience Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent is desirable. Certified as Central Sterile Technician. Experience in Central Sterile Department preferred.
