CANCER
BREAST CANCER
This trial compares two study medications for women with Postmenopausal breast cancer and who have not received hormone therapy in the past 12 months. No cost to enroll; travel expenses are reimbursed.
LUNG CANCER
A trial for adults who have been diagnosed with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The purpose is to help determine whether or not the experimental combination of two drugs will slow tumor growth or increase the amount of time before the tumor grows. The trial will also gather information about the side effects and safety of the study drugs being administered.
CARDIOVASCULAR/RENAL DISEASE
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE and BLOCKED RENAL ARTERY
For people with high blood pressure and blockade of the kidney artery. The purpose of this study is to answer: “What is the best way to treat patients who have high blood pressure and renal artery stenosis (RAS)?” Participants will receive medication or medication and placement of a stent in the blocked kidney artery.
HEMODIALYSIS
Patients on hemodialysis and who also have hyperparathyroidism may qualify for this study, which compares the medication Sensipar with a placebo to evaluate cardiovascular outcomes.
BLOOD CLOTS
If you’re taking blood thinning medications such as Coumadin or Warfarin to prevent blood clots, or have a history of Pulmonary Embolism (PE) or Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and your doctor believes that you need permanent protection, this study may be for you. This study’s purpose is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational new device for the prevention and management of PE.
ENDOCRINE
DIABETES
If you have uncontrolled type 2 diabetes treated with different oral medications and have not been treated with insulin in the past year, you may qualify for this study. The study will compare two types of insulin for safety and effectiveness.
GASTROINTESTINAL
COLON SURGERY
This study is attempting to determine if an investigational drug called Methylnaltrexone Bromide (MNTX) can help reduce the time of a condition after surgery that can cause a temporary slowing of the movement of fluids or food through the intestines. By reducing or preventing this condition,known as Post Operative Ileus (POI), patients may have a faster recovery from surgery and may be released from the hospital faster.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES
CLOSTRIDIUM DIFFICILE – ASSOCIATED DIARRHEA (CDAD)
If you have severe diarrhea or your doctor suspects that you may have a C. Difficile infection may be able to participate in this research study. We are comparing two from of investigational medication for control of diarrhea.
MUSCULOSKELETAL
ReCap TOTAL HIP RESURFACING
The purpose of this research study is to determine the safety and effectiveness of this total resurfacing system, a bone sparing alternative to the traditional total hip replacement surgery.
OPHTHALMIC
PINK EYE
If your eyes are red and producing a sticky discharge, you may have an eye infection. If so, you may qualify for a research study to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of an investigational new drug as compared to placebo (inactive substance).
PSYCHIATRIC
BIPOLAR DISORDER
If you have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder this study may be able to help you. An investigational medication is being tested for safety and effectiveness in long-term treatment of Bipolar Disorder. The medical evaluation and care will be provided at no cost.
