A select group of EMTs and paramedics comprise the EMS Special Operations Team, providing the following services to communities for mass-gathering events, such as parades, concerts, street fairs and festivals:
- Medical Bike Team
- Medical Gator Team - part of the NJ EMS Task Force Gator Strike Team
- EMS Branch Communications
The Special Operations Team is also trained to respond to large-scale incidents such as multiple alarm fires, explosions, active shooter and mass casualty incidents.
Special Operations offers:
- Mass care support for treatment areas
- Tents with heat and air conditioning
- Rehabilitation for police, fire, and EMS personnel on the scene
- Patient rescue and all-terrain transport
- EMS Branch Communications
- Members of the Special Operations Team have had additional training in incident command, HAZMAT response including live agent training, CBRNE response including response to terrorist incidents, tactical medical response and dignitary protection
