Holy Name Medical Center's Annual Founders Ball Held on November 13th Raises a Record $668,000 Three Holy Name physicians honored for their humanitarian work and medical relief efforts following the Haiti earthquake
Holy Name Medical Center's Annual Founders Ball, presented by the Holy Name Medical Center Foundation, took place on Saturday, November 13 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. With close to 700 guests, the event drew unprecedented participation, and raised a record $668,000.
The elegant evening honored three deserving physicians—David Butler, MD, Timothy Finley, DO and Alan Gwertzman, MD with Spirit of Healing Awards for their humanitarian medical relief efforts following the Haiti earthquake.
During the program, guests viewed a moving video account of the three physicians and their work in Haiti providing the attendees a glimpse of why these extraordinary doctors were being honored. Drs. Butler, Finley, and Gwertzman's time in Haiti and their drive to save more lives led to a fundraising campaign for Haiti relief with the goal of purchasing a life-saving oxygen processor for the Hôpital Sacre Coeur, Milot, Haiti, which cared for thousands of earthquake victims.
Special guests from the Hôpital Sacre Coeur included Dr. Harold Previl, Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Bernes Chalumeau, CEO, and Timothy Traynor, Head of Operations. These three representatives attended the Ball to congratulate Drs. Butler, Finley and Gwertzman and also to thank Holy Name for its continued partnership in healthcare for earthquake victims in Haiti.
"This year's Founders Ball was truly an exceptional evening like no other," said Michael Maron, President/CEO of Holy Name Medical Center. "In honoring Drs. Butler, Finley and Gwertzman, we also recognized the countless lives lost or injured in the Haiti earthquake, and also renewed our commitment to providing healthcare excellence to our community and beyond the walls of Holy Name. It is in the same spirit that the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Peace founded Holy Name 85 years ago and we are extraordinarily proud to sustain their healing mission today."
"It has been a remarkable year for Holy Name Medical Center," said Joseph Parisi, Jr. Chairman of the Holy Name Medical Center Foundation. "Drs. Butler, Finley and Gwertzman embody compassion, sacrifice and commitment to serving those in need. Through the financial support of so many in our community, we are able to continue efforts like this and will better serve all those in need of stellar health care. The Founders Ball was a true celebration of these three outstanding physicians and Holy Name Medical Center."
