Understanding My Bill

Your bill has several sections that contain information about your visit and treatment. The descriptions below take you through each section of the bill. Learn more about billing terminology in our Glossary.

  • Date — The date of your visit or treatment.

  • Description — The service or treatment you are being billed for.

  • CPT — The CPT (current procedural terminology) coding system used to describe what treatment or services given to you by your doctor.

  • Amount — The charges for services and treatment.

Other terms that might appear on your bill:

  • CODE — The CPT (current procedural terminology) coding system used to describe what treatment or services given to you by your doctor.

  • REV — The revenue code, or billing code used to name a specific room, service (X-ray, laboratory), or billing sum.

  • HCPC — Similar to CPT codes, the HCPC (Healthcare Financing Administration Common Procedure Code) is a coding system used to describe treatment or services given to you by your doctor.
