The BirthPlace
In Bergen County, Holy Name Hospital is the place to deliver your baby.
Whether it's your first pregnancy or your third, having a baby is always a very special time in your life. At The BirthPlace, there is no greater priority than Mom's well-being and the health of her baby. Everything we do — before, during and after your baby's birth — is focused on providing a safe, comfortable and positive experience. That's why our BirthPlace enjoys a patient satisfaction of 94%* and is the recipient of a five-star rating** for clinical excellence.
Here are a few more reasons why expectant mothers return to Holy Name again (and again):
- Private and beautifully designed mother/baby suites, providing a comfortable, home-like environment. Each suite can be transformed in seconds into a fully functioning labor and delivery room, equipped with the technology necessary to address the sometimes unexpected happenings of childbirth.
- Highly trained, knowledgeable and experienced nurses who are dedicated and compassionate. They are cross-trained for labor and delivery, postpartum and neonatal care, and all are certified in NRP (neonatal advanced life support) and ACLS (advanced cardiac life support).
- Fully-equipped cesarean section rooms that are located right in The BirthPlace, so you can feel confident that however your baby decides to enter this world, every available medical resource will be close at hand and administered by staff who provides continuity of care.
- Around-the-clock access to appropriate medical specialists — a feature not always available at community hospitals. A board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist (not a generalist or physician-in-training) is on site at all times (not merely on call). Also at the hospital 24/7, is a board-certified anesthesiologist, eliminating the wait for pain relief and delays for procedures.
- Maternal-fetal medicine specialists (board-certified OB/GYNs with advanced training in high-risk obstetrics management), and other expert staff who can identify risk factors, provide expert advice, and perform state-of-the-art diagnostic testing for women planning a pregnancy or those who are already expecting.
- 24-hour access to our Board-certified pediatricians and neonatologists, along with the resources of Holy Name's Level II Special Care Nursery for babies born with special needs.
- A state-of-the-art, infant security system that ensures your baby's safety.
- Visiting hours that accommodate your friends, family and birthing partner.
- Respect and consideration for your cultural and religious needs, whenever possible, whether it's a special dietary consideration, an appropriate place for religious services, modest patient clothing, or foreign language translation services.
- Educational and support programs, classes and services to help you feel confident and in-the- know, before, during and after your stay at The BirthPlace.
- Cord Blood Stem Cell Program, enabling parents to preserve and store the umbilical cord blood of their newborn, which could later aid treatment in the event of a life-threatening illness.
- Fertility specialists who can diagnose causes of infertility and treat many reproductive disorders.
