To ease the demands cancer places on patients and families, The Regional Cancer Center offers a variety of support services to help maintain the physical and emotional well being of everyone involved.
Holy Name psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and pastoral care associates provide individual and group counseling; assistance with employment, disability or financial issues; and spiritual comfort and guidance.
- The hospital's Home Care Program can bring skilled nursing care, rehabilitation therapies, and specialized equipment to the home.
- Rehabilitation services help people with cancer achieve the highest possible level of comfort, safety and quality of life. Holy Name's team of physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists is available during and after treatment.
- Nutritional support by registered dietitians can prevent weight loss and help patients respond more positively to treatment through such initiatives as meal planning and prepared take-home meals.
- Hospice care, available to those at the end of life and their families, is provided by a team of registered nurses, a chaplain, social workers and specially-trained volunteers, under the direction of a nurse manager.
Holy Name's Cancer Risk Assessment Program provides comprehensive care to families and individuals concerned about their risk of developing cancer. In addition to a genetic counselor, other healthcare professionals — including medical, gynecologic and surgical oncologists, nurses, radiologists and pathologists — offer their expertise and multiple perspectives.
