The Millennium Campaign

The Millennium Campaign

Holy Name’s bold Millennium Campaign and its Millennium Project will shape the future of health care in New Jersey. Holy Name seeks to become the hospital of the future by using today’s most advanced medical technologies within a superior environment of care in modern, comfortable, state-of-the-art facilities. The Millennium Project will be accomplished through the five-year, $50 million Millennium Campaign and will include new facilities, state-of-the-art medical technology, innovations in patient care, and enhancements and improvements to many existing hospital departments.

At the heart of the Millennium Project is a new health care model developed by Holy Name Hospital. The hospital is partnering with several corporations and vendors to become a “model hospital” by using their products, services, and technology to bring Holy Name to the highest levels of innovation and operational efficiency possible. Within the next five years, the Millennium Project will accomplish the following key endeavors:

  • The Sister Patricia Lynch Regional Cancer Center in the Russell and Angelica Berrie Pavilion: Already open and named for Holy Name’s beloved late former president and chief executive officer, the cancer center offers a full range of outpatient diagnostic and treatment services in one convenient, patient-friendly location. Some of the advances featured at the cancer center are LS Discovery PET/CT scanning technology from GE Medical Systems to diagnose, plan, and monitor treatment, which can be linked to our IMRT radiation oncology treatment system for precise treatment; respiratory gating technology to treat lung cancers; brachytherapy to treat prostate and gynecologic cancers; stereotactic radiosurgery to treat brain tumors; and clinical trials conducted in collaboration with the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System.
  • Emergency Department: Rated number-one in the country four years in a row by the benchmarking Jackson Organization, our Emergency Department treats more than 40,000 patients annually. Plans are under way to construct a new, 21,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Emergency Department that will be equipped with the latest medical technology. The new ED will encompass private rooms with doors, computerized bedside registration, and special features to address Federal Homeland Security needs, such as its own power generators and water and gas lines. Mobile small and large decontamination capabilities will be included in the event of a metropolitan-area disaster situation.
  • Outpatient Radiology Center: To expand the need for radiology services that will increase as a result of the new Emergency Department, a new outpatient radiology center will be constructed adjacent to the Emergency Department. This close proximity will enable the center to provide more rapid diagnoses of emergency cases.
  • Laboratory: An expanded laboratory with state-of-the-art computers and diagnostic equipment will be built to accommodate an increase in procedures that is expected with the addition of the new Emergency Department.
  • Regional Dialysis Center: A complete modernization and expansion is under way for our 41-station Regional Dialysis Center, which is 30 years old and one of the largest community hospital-based dialysis programs in the United States. The center provides hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home dialysis instruction for hundreds of patients with end-stage renal disease. Enhancements include: renovation and expansion of currently cramped and inefficient acute and chronic dialysis care units; replacement of all dialysis and patient monitoring equipment, water treatment facilities, and piping; and implementation of several technological upgrades that will integrate patient information.
  • Nursing units: Every one of our eight inpatient nursing units will be completely renovated and modernized. Enhancements include advanced communication technologies, wireless telemetry monitoring, Pyxis PatientStation bedside entertainment and information systems, additional private patient rooms, and re-decorating of rooms, lounges, and corridors.
  • Main lobby: A contemporary setting awaits visitors and patients as they enter the all-new and expanded main lobby of the hospital through a weather-protected entrance. Bathed in warm, soothing colors and fabrics, the main lobby features improved access to the hospital, a new gift shop, and comfortable surroundings in which to wait for loved ones.

Additional facility enhancements and technology upgrades: Key components include wireless telemetry to monitor patients with heart problems in all patient units, an open MRI machine and new CT scanner, and an improved telecommunications infrastructure. The chapel has already been redesigned and dedicated to accommodate those who wish to meditate, worship, or reflect.

When you choose to support the Millennium Campaign for Holy Name Hospital, you make a commitment to the future of health care in northern New Jersey. There are numerous ways to give to the Millennium Campaign. Special commemorative naming opportunities are available to donors of leadership gifts as a permanent expression of gratitude for their generosity and extraordinary support of the Millennium Campaign.

You may choose to name a room, office, or center in memory of a deceased loved one. Or you may opt to honor a living relative who has been helped by Holy Name by naming an area associated with the patient, such as the chronic dialysis care unit or the chemotherapy infusion center. A perfect way to celebrate the birth of a new grandchild could be with a donation to the LDRP unit’s infant examination room or a maternity patient suite. Gifts to the Millennium Campaign may be made over a pledge period of up to five years.
