Holy Name Medical Center Hosts Fashion Show For World Renowned Dress Designer

Date: 3/15/2010

Fashion show to fund breast cancer awareness initiative

Teaneck, NJ- The Korean Medical Program at Holy Name Medical Center is holding a fashion show on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:30p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Korean Medical Program's "Walk for Mom" campaign.

"Walk for Mom" is a walk-a-thon designed to build awareness of breast health among Korean-American women, for whom the number of new breast cancer cases has doubled over the past 10 years. The campaign focuses on encouraging women to follow guidelines for routine self-examination, annual mammography and clinical examinations. Last year, "Walk for Mom" raised $220,000 to provide mammography services to 200 low-income Korean-American women, as well as follow-up procedures, such as ultrasound, biopsies and surgery.

The fashion show will model dresses appealing to contemporary women designed by Lee Young Hee, a world renowned fashion designer, best know for her traditional Korean dresses. Ms. Lee's collections have been showcased in Paris and New York City. In addition to her designs, Ms. Lee is the founder of the Lee Young Hee Museum of Korean Culture located in New York City. The mission of the museum is to offer a global cultural exchange by juxtaposing the beauty and value of Korean traditional culture with Western aesthetics.

Tickets to the "Walk for Mom" Benefit Fashion Show are $200 per person and include cocktails and dinner. Black tie is optional. To purchase tickets please, call (201) 833-3187.
