Holy Name Medical Center's Obstetrician Has An Extra Special Delivery
Date: 5/18/2010
For obstetricians who have been in practice for as long as 30 years it is not uncommon to deliver two generations of family members; that is a "baby's baby." But George Ajjan, DO, Holy Name Medical Center obstetrician and gynecologist, was able to experience an especially unique occurrence—he delivered the child of Kimberly and Peter Mircovich-both of them were delivered by Dr. Ajjan. "This is the cycle of life," described Dr. Ajjan. "So many pieces all came together for a beautiful outcome-a beautiful baby girl."
Kimberly Mircovich of Cliffside Park, explained that she was about 32 weeks into her pregnancy when both she and her husband Peter realized that he was delivered by Dr. Ajjan. It was not until two weeks before she gave birth that Mrs. Mircovich's mother realized that Dr. Ajjan was the physician who delivered her daughter as well. "My mom was in the process of moving and she came across my baby book," explains Mrs. Mircovich. "Dr. Ajjan signed it and there was even a picture of him in the book." Dr. Ajjan delivered both Mr. and Mrs. Mircovich at Holy Name.
With a chance happening such as this, Dr. Ajjan knew that he needed to be the obstetrician to deliver the Mircovich's baby. Baby Kayla was born at Holy Name Medical Center and on her paternal grandmother's birthday. "It is such an amazing coincidence that we both were delivered by the same doctor at Holy Name and now our daughter was, as well," says Mrs. Mircovich. "Now our life is complete, thanks to Dr. Ajjan." Baby Kayla joins big sister Hailey who was born out of the state.
Dr. Ajjan is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist who has been on staff at Holy Name Medical Center since 1980. He earned his degree in osteopathic medicine from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship at Memorial General Hospital and his residency at Saint Joseph's Hospital.
Dr. Ajjan estimates that he has delivered 3700 babies since he began practicing obstetrics.
