Holy Name Medical Center to Honor Davis Butler, MD, Timothy Finley, DO, Alan Gwertzman, MD at Annual Founders Ball on November 13
For their humanitarian and medical relief efforts following the Haiti earthquake.
Holy Name Medical Center's Annual Founders Ball, presented by the Holy Name Health Care Foundation, will take place on Saturday, November 13 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. This year's Founders Ball honors three exceptional physicians, David Butler, MD, Timothy Finley, DO, and Alan Gwertzman, MD with Spirit of Healing Awards for their humanitarian work and their medical relief efforts following the Haiti earthquake.
"It is our privilege to honor Drs. Butler, Finley and Gwertzman at this year's Founders Ball, Holy Name's most prestigious fundraising event," said Michael Maron, President and Chief Executive Officer, Holy Name Medical Center. "We honor them not just for their selfless humanitarian work in Haiti, but also because they continue to inspire and motivate the Holy Name family to reach out beyond our community to help the less fortunate and those in great need of clinical care. Drs. Butler, Finley and Gwertzman exemplify the healing mission of Holy Name and the compassion of our founders, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Peace."
Drs. Butler, Finley and Gwertzman traveled to Haiti following the devastating earthquake in January. Upon their return, the three physicians organized a fundraising effort to donate a life-saving oxygen processor to the Hopital Sacre Coeur in Milot, Haiti. Through a collaborative effort between Holy Name Medical Center, its employees, Bergen Anesthesia Associates, Oxygen Generating Systems International, and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, the oxygen processor is fully functional and saving the lives of thousands. Holy Name's commitment goes beyond the material gift—Mr. Maron accompanied the doctors to Haiti to ensure transportation, delivery, and installation of the oxygen processor.
Dr. Butler joined the Holy Name Medical Center staff in 1973 and served as Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1990 through 2009 and is the immediate past Chairman of the Holy Name Board of Trustees. Dr. Finley joined Holy Name Medical Center in 2003 as an attending anesthesiologist through Bergen Anesthesia Associates. Dr. Gwertzman joined Holy Name Medical Center in 1994 as an attending anesthesiologist through Bergen Anesthesia Associates and in 1999 he assumed the role of Chairman of Anesthesiology for Holy Name. Dr. Gwertzman is also a member of the Medical Center's Medical Executive Committee.
"This year's Founders Ball will be an extremely special evening," said Joseph Parisi, Jr. Chairman of the Holy Name Health Care Foundation. "We are presenting three extraordinary Holy Name physicians with Spirit of Healing awards. And we are also creating a uniquely themed event for our Ball. A Night at the Speakeasy will take us back in time to an era of clandestine cocktails, "zoot suits" and "flappers" as we recreate the roaring 20s at the historic Cipriani Wall Street. It is slated to be a spectacular evening that no one should miss!"
