Holy Name Medical Center offers Free Diabetes Screening at Health Fair on April 5
Holy Name Medical Center will be offering a free Diabetes Screening and Health Fair on April 5 at 718 Teaneck Road in Teaneck. The Health Fair is part of a county-wide collaborative with Bergen County hospitals and the County's Department of Health to offer community members free A1C screenings for diabetes. The event will also feature additional health screenings for blood pressure, BMI, waist and hip measurements, depression and substance abuse.
Those with the following risk factors should consider a screening for diabetes:
Pre-registration is required for the diabetes screening and appointments are limited. Please call 1-877-HOLY-NAME (1-877-465-9626) to schedule your screening. No pre-registration is required for the other health fair screenings available that day.
- Family history of diabetes
- High blood pressure or cholesterol
- Increased thirst or frequent urination
- Fatigue or sleep problems
- Blurred vision
The American Diabetes Association estimates that more than 25 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes, and that almost two million new cases are diagnosed each year.
The Collaborative includes Bergen Regional Medical Center, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, HackensackUMC, Holy Name Medical Center, Ramapo Ridge Psychiatric Hospital at Christian Health Care Center, The Valley Hospital, the Bergen County Department of Health Services and the Community Health Improvement Partnership of Bergen County. It was established to better meet the needs of community members who may not have insurance, be underinsured, or otherwise do not have access to comprehensive healthcare.
