|Karen Blitz, DO, a board-certified neurorehabilitation specialist and licensed physical therapist, focuses on restoring and maximizing functional ability in patients with neurologic conditions. People who may benefit from neurorehabilitation include those with multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, vertigo, peripheral neuropathy due to diabetes or chronic kidney disease, and patients who have difficulty walking.|
Dr. Blitz graduated from SUNY at Stony Brook with a BS in physical therapy before earning her medical degree at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency training in neurology at Nassau County Medical Center and a neurorehabilitation fellowship at Hospital for Joint Diseases/ NYU Medical Center.
Most recently, Dr. Blitz was director of the North Shore/LIJ MS Care Center and director of neurorehabilitation at North Shore Hospital at Glen Cove. She has held assistant professorship positions at Hofstra North Shore/LIJ School of Medicine and New York University, and has published and lectured extensively on MS.
