The urologic oncology team, led by Dr. Raul Parra, is comprised of experienced board-certified specialists that include surgeons and radiation and medical oncologists who use a multidisciplinary approach to customize treatment plans unique to each patient.

Dr. Parra is a renowned urologic oncologist with years of experience and a pioneer of minimally invasive surgery in the treatment of urologic cancers. He is one of only a few urologic surgeons worldwide who offers complete robotic bladder removal and reconstruction, a procedure that avoids the need for an ostomy bag and significantly improves quality of life.

Holy Name's urologic oncologists are among the region's most experienced surgeons in robotic procedures for prostate cancer, bladder and kidney cancer. Robotic surgery results in less bleeding, reduced pain and a faster recovery, while reducing side effects and complications compared to open surgery.

Patients at Holy Name also benefit from access to clinical trials, research protocols, the latest in image-guided diagnostics and treatment, as well as genetic testing and nutritional counseling – all geared to offer patients and their families a complete healing approach to cancer care.
