Holy Name's Nurse Residency Program is designed specifically for nurses with less than 12 months of clinical experience and helps bridge the gap between education and practice for new graduates.
The 13-month program includes 144 hours (minimum of four hours per month) of paid classroom time as well as 2,000 hours of on-the-job training and 1-to-1 mentoring. Participants also have ample access to The Russell Berrie Institute of Simulation Learning to expand their specialized skills and practice critical thinking and decision-making.
In addition to traditional classroom training, the state-of-the-art Simulation Lab offers residents a safe and supportive environment to practice both clinical and communication skills using specific skill stations and simulation scenarios for hands-on experience in a realistic setting.
The program's curriculum focuses on clinical skill development, leadership, communication and team dynamics, which results in improved safety, quality of care and patient experience. Residents develop clinical leadership capabilities when they improve competence and confidence in their decision-making. The focus on communication and teamwork helps improve efficiency and patient safety.
Holy Name's Nurse Residency Program provides new graduates the training and support they need to thrive in their careers.
