You may remember Kyle Hewlett, whose life was saved at Holy Name in 2023 after he had a heart attack at just 24 years old. A team of 30 clinicians did CPR on Kyle for nearly 90 minutes and never gave up. Kyle soon stabilized when interventional cardiologist Dr. Stephen Angeli and the Cath Lab team stepped in to perform a highly complex procedure with an implanted heart pump. Today Kyle is nearing completion of cardiac rehabilitation with Holy Name.

CPR saved Kyle, and it could save someone you love – you never know when you might need to use it. The vast majority of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in the home, followed by public settings and nursing homes. If performed immediately, CPR can double or triple the chance of survival from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. One person can truly make a difference.

At Holy Name’s Russell Berrie Institute for Simulation Learning, the Family and Friends CPR class uses lifelike medical mannequins to teach students how to perform adult, child, and infant CPR. Through dynamic group engagement and hands-on practice, students leave with this life-saving skill.
