Inspirational Testimonial from our resident

"When I was exploring residency programs, Holy Name stood apart as a place that would be best for my personal and professional growth. Because I have strong personal ties to New Jersey, the location is ideal-with the added bonus of being just minutes from New York City. But what truly made the difference was the sense of community I felt during my observation and work here. It was clear that this was a program where residents are genuinely supported to grow, learn, and thrive.

From the very beginning, my experience at Holy Name has been overwhelmingly positive. The culture is warm, inclusive, and deeply collaborative. I felt welcomed from day one-by my co-residents, coordinators, attendings, and staff. The physician leaders are approachable and always willing to teach, regardless of how busy the day is. Our family medicine program director sets the tone for this environment. His enthusiasm and dedication to education make learning feel natural and engaging. He's the kind of mentor who inspires confidence and curiosity.

One of the best features of our training is the simulation lab; it's truly one of the best I've seen. Another outstanding feature is hands-on experience with patient care directly with attendings. From the start, I've had opportunities to work closely with patients under direct supervision, which has accelerated my learning and helped me build clinical confidence. It's a space where questions are encouraged, feedback is constructive, and every case becomes a learning opportunity.

A key lesson I've learned so far is the power of teamwork in patient care. At Holy Name, collaboration isn't just encouraged-it's embedded in the culture. Everyone plays a role: patient care technicians, nurses, physician assistants, and attending physicians all work together seamlessly to provide effective patient care. That level of coordination and mutual respect has shown me how impactful team-based care can be, and it's something I've come to value deeply.

To future applicants: if you're looking for a family medicine program that offers strong clinical training in a genuinely supportive environment, Holy Name is a fantastic choice. Be yourself during the interview process, ask questions, and consider the benefits of training in a densely populated community in a vibrant location. This is a place where you can grow as a physician and as a person-and I'm proud to be part of it."
