AI-Powered Aquablation® Therapy to Treat Enlarged Prostate

Holy Name, the region’s leading independent health system, today announced that it is now offering Aquablation® therapy with the new HYDROS™ Robotic System to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a common, non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate.

Aquablation therapy is delivered by an AI-powered robotic system, which helps urologists see the prostate and surrounding areas more clearly during an ultrasound, allowing for more precise treatment, which may ultimately protect sexual function and bladder control over the long-term. It is also clinically proven to provide significant relief of symptoms like frequent urination or difficulty fully emptying the bladder.

Statistics show fifty percent of men ages 51-60 have BPH. According to new research, 99 percent of men say BPH impacts their quality of life. Without timely treatment, BPH can lead to severe health issues such as permanent bladder or kidney damage, bladder stones, and incontinence. The standard treatment option today is surgery, but its impact on sexual function and bladder control can make patients hesitant to seek care.

"We’re proud to be one of only two hospitals in northern New Jersey to offer Aquablation therapy with the HYDROS Robotic System, as this is a significant advancement in urologic care, providing faster symptom relief, reduced recovery time and improved health outcomes," says Dr. Gregory Lovallo, Chief of Urology at Holy Name. "This precise, minimally invasive approach preserves healthy tissue and minimizes the impact on sexual and urinary function, ultimately leading to a better quality of life for patients."

The procedure utilizes a high-powered water jet to remove excess prostate tissue, combining heat-free treatment with advanced ultrasound-guided imaging and robotic precision. With this tailored approach, the system accurately removes problematic tissue while keeping critical anatomy safe. See how the HYDROS Robotic System works.
