Holy Name Medical Center was recently named to Newsweek’s prestigious list of America’s Best-in-State Hospitals 2026. Holy Name was one of 11 hospitals in New Jersey to receive this honor. Presented by Newsweek, in collaboration with global data intelligence from Statista, the full list ranks 800 of the nation's top hospitals at the state level in all 50 states and the District of Columbia and is available online.
“We are honored by this recognition, which reflects our entire staff’s commitment to ensuring Holy Name remains the trusted choice for healthcare in northern New Jersey,” said Vasantha Kondamudi, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Holy Name. “In our centennial year, we continually strive to raise the standard of care so every patient and family we serve knows they are receiving life-changing care close to home.”
The Best-in-State Hospitals 2026 rankings are based on a comprehensive methodology incorporating quality metrics, reputation, patient experience, and Patient-Reported Outcome Measures.
Quality metrics were obtained from organizations such as Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Medicare Fee-for-Service claims via Arcadia, the AHA Annual Survey, and hospital accreditation bodies including The Joint Commission and Accreditation Commission for Health Care, among others. Reputation was shaped by a nationwide survey of medical professionals, who rate hospitals in care quality, counseling, amenities, staffing, and accessibility. Patient experience was included via HCAHPS survey results.
Newsweek’s state-by-state guide to hospitals helps consumers make informed decisions about local hospitals that they can trust to offer exceptional, quality care.
There are more than 6,000 hospitals across the United States, according to the American Hospital Association, and their capabilities, resources and performance can vary widely. Knowing which facilities provide exceptional quality care and in close proximity can help patients and families make more informed decisions.
