Holy Name is pleased to announce today it has earned its fourth consecutive "A" Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
"Earning our fourth consecutive 'A' in patient safety is validation of our team's unwavering commitment to excellence," said Vasantha Kondamudi, MD, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Holy Name. "Ensuring safety and delivering quality care are at the core of everything we do. From staff training to patient protocols, we are focused on protecting our patients and supporting their recovery in the safest environment possible."
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
"Earning an 'A' grade means Holy Name made a true commitment to put patient safety first," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "We congratulate the medical center's leadership, board of directors, physician network, staff and volunteers and recognize that each individual played a role in this achievement."
