Holy Name Medical Center announced today the opening of its new Fibroid Center, one of only two dedicated programs in Bergen County, designed to provide comprehensive care for women experiencing fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, and other related conditions. The center will be led by Dr. Eric Liberman, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist recognized for his expertise in advanced minimally invasive treatments.
Uterine fibroids are among the most common conditions affecting women and may cause heavy bleeding, pelvic discomfort and pain, and occasionally exert pressure on other organs.
Research shows that up to 70% of women develop these benign tumors by menopause, and approximately one in four women will experience symptoms severe enough to require medical intervention. Additional gynecologic conditions, such as endometrial polyps, adenomyosis, chronic pelvic pain, and endometriosis significantly impact women’s health and quality of life.
The new Fibroid Center at Holy Name is dedicated to addressing these challenges with a compassionate and patient-centered approach to care. The center’s staff will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including pain management experts, pelvic floor physical therapists, hematologists, and interventional radiologists to ensure patients are thoroughly evaluated and provided with the most appropriate treatment plan for their condition and lifestyle.
“Too often, women feel uniformed and unprepared for the changes to their health as they age, and as a result they may struggle silently with painful or disruptive symptoms,” said Dr. Liberman, Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Holy Name. “By combining innovative technologies with a highly personalized approach, we can help educate women, ensure they feel comfortable seeking help and improve their quality of life.”
Patients will have access to leading-edge diagnostic tools and an array of non-surgical and surgical options for fibroids and related conditions. Additionally, Dr. Liberman utilizes the latest technologies including hysteroscopy, laparoscopy, and robotic-assisted surgeries.
