Family Medicine Residency Program
The Holy Name Medical Center Family Medicine Residency delivers a comprehensive three-year curriculum with progressive clinical training. The PGY-1 year establishes core competencies through rotations in IP Family Medicine, OB, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and inpatient pediatrics at Rutgers University Hospital. PGY-2 advances to specialty-focused training in Pain/Neurology, ENT/Wound Care, and Urology/Ophthalmology while introducing elective opportunities. The final year emphasizes Population Health management and offers expanded elective options across 15+ specialties. Throughout all years, residents develop continuity practice experience, increasing from one to four half-day clinic sessions weekly. This structured program balances intensive inpatient training with outpatient primary care development, preparing physicians for full-spectrum family medicine practice. View full curriculum here.
The Holy Name Faculty Medicine Residency Program fosters, supports, and requires scholarly activity for all our Residents under the mentorship and supervision of our Program Faculty. We believe that scholarly activity in Residency is one of the best foundations for providing excellent patient care, practicing lifelong learning and improvement, building the narrative for one's future career and contribution to the Specialty, cultivating one's professional wellbeing, and bolstering social connection and collaboration with colleagues and the academic community. All our Residents will be required to pursue and complete scholarly activities during their 3-year training in the form of either: (1) a scientific research abstract OR (2) two abstracts (clinical vignettes, case reports, and/or quality improvement projects) submitted during Residency.
We participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). All applications will be accepted and reviewed through ERAS. All Residency positions will be filled through the NRMP.
NRMP Program Code: 241910C0
National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Code: 241910C0
The Family Medicine Residency Program at Holy Name utilizes a holistic review framework, reviewing applicants' experiences, attributes, competencies, and academic metrics.
