RN Program Curriculum

The RN Diploma Program curriculum of Holy Name Medical Center Sister Claire Tynan School of Nursing is developed in accordance with the philosophy and goals of the School and provides for the education of the student as a professional nurse and as a person. The nursing program curriculum utilizes a concept-based approach to teaching and learning. The program extends over two academic years with two 15-week semesters each year. The nursing courses include classroom instruction as well as skills labs, simulation, and clinical experiences. All learning activities are supervised by the faculty of the School of Nursing.

Holy Name Medical Center School of Nursing has a collaborative agreement with St. Peter's University (SPU). SPU offers college credit for the general education and science courses which are part of the Holy Name School of Nursing RN program curriculum which provides students with the opportunity to receive the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S in Health Science) in addition to the diploma in nursing if 30 credits of general education/science courses are taken with SPU. The nursing curriculum is dependent upon proper sequencing of courses. All non-nursing general education/science courses in the RN Program curriculum are to be completed prior to or during the semester in which they are listed on the curriculum organization plan.
